FiberGlass Structural Products
At Carlson Engineered Composites, we offer a wide variety of high-quality structural products made of fiberglass-reinforced polymer (FRP) that are corrosion resistant, lightweight, virtually maintenance-free, dimensionally-stable, and easy to work with. These products are an excellent alternative to wood, steel, and aluminum and offer a long-term sustainable solution for your designs.
The applications for these fiberglass structural products are virtually limitless. In the past, these products are commonly used for stair structures, walkways, platforms, pedestrian bridges, structural framing, handrail systems, decking, boat docks, pipe supports, cross-bracing, and display racks.
The structural products are available in three standard resin series to meet the requirements of different applications and environments:
STD (Standard Non-Fire Retardant Polyester)
Standard structural shapes are manufactured using isophthalic polyester resin. This resin system is olive green in color and contains UV inhibitors. Polyester resin exhibits good corrosion resistance, good dielectric properties, low thermal conductivity, and excellent mechanical properties.
FR (Fire Retardant Polyester)
This resin system exhibits the same characteristics as standard polyester along with a fire retardant rating of 25 or less when tested in accordance with ASTM E-84 and exhibits low smoke generation. Products manufactured using this resin system are gray and yellow in color.
VE - (Vinylester Fire Retardant)
Being fire retardant, this resin meets a rating of 25 or less when tested per ASTM-84 and has low smoke generation. It is produced in beige and yellow. This system exhibits excellent corrosion resistance and is capable of higher service temperatures than polyester resin systems.
